A Guide to Becoming a Digital Nomad

As we struggle to deal with the global Coronavirus pandemic, more and more people are turning to online solutions to earn a living, and if the idea of living where you like and working your choice of hours is appealing, here are a few ways that you can make a living on the Internet.

  • Web Content Writing – If you have a flair for writing, you could become a web content writer by signing up with an agency, and they ask you every morning if you wish to work. You would be writing articles on many different topics, and the more you work, the more money you receive. Invest in a unit at the luxury Tait 12 (known as เทตต์ 12 in Thai) complex in Bangkok, where you can live in style while working as a writer.
  • Set Up an E-Commerce Store – If you are an organised person with a good line of products, you could make a very good living selling items on a shopping cart website. This requires a lot of planning, as you need to source a reliable supplier, build and develop your e-commerce site, plus you have to outsource the logistics. It can be done, but be aware that you will have to invest heavily in digital marketing, as least until you have a name in the industry. You will need to carry out some serious market research to ensure there is a strong demand for your products, plus you have to be very price competitive.
  • Teaching English Online – There is a huge market in China for learning English online and if you search with Google for an online language school, you can submit your CV, and even if you haven’t any teaching qualifications, if you are a native English speaker, the agency would probably hire you. You would need a few teaching props, such as a whiteboard and some flashcards, and it won’t take you long to become an accomplished online teacher. If you are prepared to work long hours, you can make several thousand dollars per month, and the more experience you have, the higher your rates of pay. All you need is a laptop and a high-speed Internet connection and you are good to go.

There are, of course, many other ways that you can make a living online, and once you have been working for a few months, you can relocate to a sunny place where the cost of living is low and the climate is agreeable.
